Who We Are and What We Do
The Last Chance Cat Ranch is the largest cat rescue south of Calgary, Alberta. We are a not-for-profit, no-kill rescue organization. Our mission is to save cats and kittens from untimely deaths, which includes providing necessary veterinary care to homeless and abandoned cats. We tirelessly do our best to find furever homes for abandoned, stray, and surrendered cast, and provide TNR (trap-neuter-release) to shy cats when financially able to do so.
We have an operating budget of $250,000, all of which is provided by donations and fund raising. We do not receive any funding from the Federal, Provincial or Municipal governments. The money in our budget is used to cover food, litter, spay or neuter and all other necessary veterinary care as well as kennels, litter boxes, toys and amenities.
We are an entirely volunteer based rescue, no one receives a salary, including administrative personnel. With about 75 active volunteers, we are always looking for more volunteers.
We currently have over 150 cats and kittens in foster care and the intake house, patiently awaiting their "fur"-ever homes. We are always looking for new foster homes to take in cats so we can reduce the amount of cats in the intake house and reduce the stress on our cats and kittens.
All of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered before they are adopted out. Kittens that are adopted young, are monitored and are altered when they come of age, at LCCR's cost.
All cats and kittens that are adopted, must be adopted into an indoors only house.
We do not advocate de-clawing, but we do advocate Spaying and Neutering.
We work closely with other rescues in Alberta such as the PAW Society in Lethbridge.
