A gentle soul with a soft voice and a growing spark

Marishka’s story began in Stirling, where she was found very thin and very pregnant—quietly doing her best to survive. She came to LCCR just in time and soon headed into a foster home, where she could safely welcome her babies into the world. While raising her kittens, Marishka did something else just as powerful: she completely won the hearts of her foster family.

Described by her foster momma as a shy but thoughtful girl, Marishka slowly began to show who she really is once she felt safe. In a calm, quiet house, she’d venture out and choose to sit beside her people, enjoying their presence without demanding attention. Early on, Marishka had to take medications, and understandably began to associate humans with “yucky stuff” being put in her mouth. Now that those days are behind her, she’s come to realize that people can actually be quite nice.

Marishka genuinely enjoys gentle pets—especially around her ears and chin—and as her comfort grows, so does her playful side. She’ll suddenly zoom around her favorite safe spaces with a burst of springy energy, reminding everyone that there’s a fun-loving kitty beneath her cautious exterior. She also becomes more talkative as she settles in, offering soft commentary to the people she trusts.

Unfortunately, Marishka’s foster family had to move to another province, and she returned to the ranch through no fault of her own. Back at LCCR, she remains a sensitive girl who takes time to feel secure in new surroundings. Loud noises can startle her, and she prefers a peaceful environment where routines are gentle and predictable.

Marishka would do best in a quiet home with one or more feline companions, which help her feel confident and grounded. She may also be okay with a calm, respectful dog. Her ideal family will understand that trust is built slowly—and that watching a shy cat choose to come closer, sit beside you, and eventually seek out affection is incredibly rewarding.
