Meet Mowgli
Some cats arrive at rescue with a story written all over them. Mowgli is one of those cats.
This handsome grey tabby gentleman is estimated to be 4 to 5 years old and was recently rescued after spending at least two years surviving on the streets. Once upon a time, Mowgli belonged to someone, but somewhere along the way he found himself alone, trying to make it on his own.
Life outdoors has not been kind to him. When Mowgli finally came into our care, he was in decline. His teeth were broken down to the gums, he was anemic, and testing revealed that he is FIV positive. Yet despite everything he has endured, Mowgli is still here, still fighting, and slowly learning that people can be trusted again.
Mowgli had been on the LCCR waitlist for some time before we were able to bring him to safety. Now, with regular meals, warm beds, veterinary care, and patient volunteers, he is beginning his next chapter.
He is a shy boy and will need a family willing to give him time to settle in at his own pace. While he isn't the cat who will immediately jump into your lap, we see more of his gentle spirit every day. At the ranch, he is gradually becoming comfortable with the volunteers who care for him, and it's incredibly rewarding to watch his walls come down, little by little.
What Mowgli needs most is someone who understands that trust is earned. He needs a quiet home, a soft place to rest, and a person willing to celebrate the small victories: the first curious glance, the first head rub, the first time he realizes he is finally safe.
Mowgli's past may have been difficult, but we believe his future can be something beautiful.
If you have room in your heart for a cat who has overcome so much and deserves a chance to finally know love and security again, Mowgli may be waiting for you.
After years of simply surviving, Mowgli is ready to start living. 🩶
